American Academy of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery (AAO-HNSF)AAO-HNSF Resident Research Award—Open to any AAO-HNS member in good standing who is a resident in an accredited otolaryngology - head and neck surgery training program in the U.S. and Canada. One year, any topic, non-renewable, $10,000 maximum total costs, up to eight available annually. AAO-HNSF Maureen Hannley Research Training Award—Open to advanced residents, fellows, and new faculty committed to an academic research career in otolaryngology. Applicants must reside in the U.S. or Canada. Mentor and training plan required. One year, any topic, non-renewable, $15,000 maximum total costs, up to two available annually. AAO-HNSF Percy Memorial Research Award—Open to any experienced Otolaryngologist investigator who resides in the U.S. or Canada. One year, any topic, non-renewable, $25,000 maximum total costs, one available annually. AAO-HNSF Health Services Research Grant—Open to any Otolaryngologist at any level in the U.S. or Canada. Project must focus on use of health services research techniques to study otolaryngic disorders, practice patterns, or quality of life issues. One year, non-renewable, $10,000 maximum total costs, up to two available annually. AAO-HNSF Rande H. Lazar Health Services Research Grant—Open to any Otolaryngologist at any level in the U.S. or Canada. Project must focus on ENT socioeconomic health services research. American Head and Neck Society (AHNS)AHNS Pilot Grant—Open to Medical Students, residents, PhD, and junior faculty residing in the U.S. and Canada to support basic, translational, or clinical research projects in head and neck oncology. One year, $10,000, one available annually. AHNS Alando J. Ballantyne Resident Research Pilot Grant—For the best grant application by a resident in the U.S. or Canada. This award has the same guidelines as the Pilot Grant (above). One year, non-renewable, $10,000, one available annually. AHNS/AAO-HNSF Young Investigator Combined Award—Open to new full time academic surgeons working on contemporary basic or clinical research skills focused on neoplastic disease of the head and neck in the U.S. or Canada. Two year, non-renewable, $40,000 maximum ($20,000 per year), one available annually. AHNS/AAO-HNSF Surgeon Scientist Combined Award—Open to surgeons beginning a clinician-scientist career track to support research in the pathogenesis, pathophysiology, diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of head and neck neoplastic disease. Harrison Memorial Research Award- Open to physicians (MD at the resident, fellow or junior faculty stage) or PhD scientist in the U.S. or Canada, to support clinical research projects in otology or neurotology designed to increase understanding of hearing disorders. The American Laryngological, Rhinological and Otological Society, Inc., aka The Triological SocietyThe Triological Career Development Awards provide support for the research career development of otolaryngologists-head and neck surgeons who have made a commitment to focus their research endeavors on patient-oriented research such as clinical trials, translational research, outcomes research and health services research. Five non-renewable awards in the amount of $40,000 each are funded annually for a one or two year project period. Learn More
American Laryngological Voice and Research Education Foundation (ALVRE)ALA/ALVRE Award - Open to otolaryngologists who have completed their training at an ACGME accredited program in otolaryngology - head and neck surgery in the U.S. or Canada, to support basic, translational or clinical research projects in laryngology, voice, outcomes and related subjects. American Neurotology Society (ANS)ANS/AAO-HNSF Herbert Silverstein Otology and Neurotology Research Award - Open to residents, fellows and physicians in the U.S. or Canada to support a clinical or translational research project focused on diseases, disorders or conditions of the peripheral or central auditory and/or vestibular system. Two years, non-renewable, $25,000 maximum ($12,500 per year), one available annually. ARS Resident Research Grants - Open to residents in training in an approved program in the U.S. and Canada to support projects related to Rhinology. American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology (ASPO)ASPO Research Grant—Open to MD, PhD, DMD researchers on topics directly relevant to pediatric otolaryngology. One year, non-renewable, $15,000, two available annually. Candidates for this award must reside in the U.S. or Canada. ASPO Daiichi Innovative Technology Grant— Open to MD, PhD, DMD, DO researchers to fund exploratory or hypothesis-generating projects that apply innovative technology for education or research in pediatric otolaryngology. Full patent and copyright control must be retained by the applicant and the applicant’s institution, but applicant may be required to return funds to the Society if patented innovations generate more than $5,000. One year, non-renewable, $5,000, one available. NOTE: It is recommended that the Research Plan for this grant only be 3-pages (max of 10) and the department chair and support letters are optional.
