CORE: What's New

In order to align the CORE application process with that of NIH, for the 2013 grant cycle, we have added a "Specific Aims" document and changed the "Research Plan" document to the "Research Strategy" document. Page limits for the Research Strategy document have been clarified and are noted below. Details can be found in proposalCENTRAL with the application instructions. 

Specific Aims: A Specific Aims page is now required for each grant mechanism. The instructions for completing this document is noted below (taken form SPECIFIC AIMS INSTRUCTIONS in proposalCENTRAL):

State concisely the goals of the proposed research and summarize the expected outcome(s), including the impact that the results of the proposed research will exert on the research field(s) involved.

List succinctly the specific objectives of the research proposed, e.g., to test a stated hypothesis, create a novel design, solve a specific problem, challenge an existing paradigm or clinical practice, address a critical barrier to progress in the field, or develop new technology.

Specific Aims are limited to 1-page.

Research Strategy (formerly known as the Research Plan): The three sections formerly comprising the Research Plan (Background and Significance, Preliminary Studies/Progress Report, and Research Design and Methods) have been streamlined into a single section called Research Strategy. The Research Strategy section must contain three components: Significance, Innovation and Approach. Refer to the instructions to complete the Research Strategy section in proposalCENTRAL. Page limits for the Research Strategy are noted as follows:
