CORE Grant Application Overview
Keep in mind:
Applicants are advised to read completely through the individual funding opportunity announcements and instructions before starting the application process.
Applicants must select ONE grant mechanism for application submission. Applicants may apply to more than one mechanism with different projects.
Application who are not eligible for an award and/or do not follow instructions for preparing an application, may be administratively withdrawn.
Getting Started:- Review the Funding Opportunity Announcement At-A-Glance document to help you determine which grants you and your project may be eligible for.
- Select one grant mechanism for which to apply. (If you have multiple UNIQUE projects, you may apply to more than one mechanism. DO NOT APPLY TO MORE THAN ONE MECHANISM WITH THE SAME PROJECT.)
- Review the 2013 Funding Opportunity Announcement for the award you have selected to submit your application.
- Visit proposalCENTRAL, our electronic submission site to create an account or review and update an existing account.
- Submit a letter of intent (LOI) by midnight EST December 17, 2012. (More on letters of intent) You must submit a letter of intent in order to apply for a CORE grant.
- Review this general checklist of requirements for each CORE grant mechanism. (This is only a general checklist. Always refer to the FOA for guidance.)
- Once you receive an approval email for your LOI, you can prepare your application for submission.
- Submit your application no later than midnight EST, January 15, 2013.

Letters of Intent The letters help us anticipate our review requirements but are non-bindeing. Submit you letter of intent online via proposalCENTRAL by December 17, 2012. The letter of intent includes:
Do not submit multiple LOIs for the same project to different mechanisms. Submit an LOI to one mechanism. If you have multiple UNIQUE projects, you may submit to more than one mechanism. However, you will have to establish in your application that you will have the time to devote to multiple projects should they get funding. What to include in the abstract: State the project's broad, long-term objectives and goals, making reference to the health relatedness of the project. Be accurate, succinct, and brief. Describe concisely the research design and methods for achieving these goals. Avoid summaries of past accomplishments and the use of the first person. This description is meant to serve as a succinct and accurate description of the proposed work when separated from the application. |
