As we approach the compliance date for the transition from ICD-9-CM to ICD-10 (October 1, 2013), it is important that you and your practice are aware of the important steps needed to prepare. To make the transition smoother, the Health Policy department offered a mini-seminar, “ICD9 Transition to ICD 10 Diagnostic Coding” during our 2010 annual meeting. The moderator for the mini-seminar was coding expert Rhonda Buckholtz, CPC, CPMA, CENTC.

Implementation of HIPAA Version 5010 in J12 MAC Region
The CMS has released MLN Matters® article 6744 to instruct providers who bill Medicare Parts A and / or B in the J12 region (Delaware, District of Columbia, New Jersey and Pennsylvania) that their Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC) will start implementing the HIPAA version 5010 on March 1, 2010. This transition will require changes to your software and possibly billing procedures. Effective January 1, 2012 providers are required to submit their claims electronically using the X12 Version 5010. Learn more.
