Presidential Citations recognize individuals personally selected by the President who have left a personal imprint on the life and/or career of the president, and/or have made a lasting impression through their outstanding contributions and dedication to the Academy, Foundation, or greater house of medicine. Citation awardees are recognized during the Annual Meeting Opening Ceremony.
The 2017 recipients are:
K.J. Lee, MD
K.J. Lee, MD of Yale University and Hofstra University was past treasurer and past president of the AAO-HNS/F. He has served as President of the New Haven County Medical Association, chair of hospital medical staff and hospital medical boards, and vice chair of an HMO. His goal has always been to have technology simplify physician workflow and for government mandates not to hinder patient care. He co-founded The Patient Is U Foundation (TPIU)....Knowledge to Treat, Heart to Care, at a Sensible Cost, blending great outcome with compassionate care around the globe. This citation is given to him in recognition of his energetic diplomacy within the otolaryngologic worldwide community as well as his forward thinking approach and mentorship.
Lorraine M. Randolph is presented with a Presidential Citation by her husband, Gregory W. Randolph, MD, in recognition of her lifetime partnership, faith, love and support .
David J. Terris, MD
David J. Terris, MD is Regents Professor of Otolaryngology and Endocrinology and Surgical Director, Augusta University Thyroid and Parathyroid Center. He is intelligent, hard-working, selfless and always at the cutting edge of innovations in terms of robotic surgery, cosmetic aspects of surgery and technical aspects of endocrine surgery like no one else in the field. He has authored numerous important research papers which have changed the face of our field. This citation is given to him in recognition of his lifetime work of selfless leadership within the endocrine surgery community.
D. Bradley Welling, MD, PhD
D. Bradley Welling, MD, PhD is Chief of Otolaryngology at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. His core value, which he reflects not only through his words but also through his actions, is striving towards always higher levels of excellence in all areas. This citation is given to him in honor of his quintessential representation of the ideal physician academic role model characterized by leadership and collaboration blended with fairness and humility.
