The honor of the Adam T. Ross, MD, Leadership Excellence Grant is bestowed annually to a resident leadership grant recipient who has exhibited strong leadership commitment to the Academy throughout his or her residency. Members of the Sections for Residents and Fellows-in-Training (SRF) select this individual during their spring meeting.
2014 Adam T. Ross Awardee: Nikhila P. Raol, MD
Nikhila Raol, MD received her Bachelor of Arts degree at Rice University in Houston, Texas. She went on to get her MD at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas and subsequently completed her residency in the Bobby R. Alford Department of Otolaryngology at Baylor College of Medicine. She is currently in her 3rd year of her pediatric otolaryngology fellowship at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary at Harvard Medical School. She is also a Cabot fellow at the Center for Surgery and Public Health at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital where she is studying and conducting health services research. During her fellowship, she completed her Master of Public Health at the Harvard School of Public Health.
Nikhila has published over twenty peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, has served as a book editor, has participated in humanitarian outreach, and has won awards for leadership and teaching. She has been active in our Academy for the past 5 years, beginning as a 3rd year resident, serving in a number of leadership roles in the Section for Residents and Fellows. She aspires to continue her career in academic pediatric otolaryngology with a special interest in health services research.
