Guidelines, Position Statements and Clinical Indicators

AAO-HNS/F Guidance Documents

The Ad Hoc Payment Model Workgroup has summarized the different quality knowledge products like Clinical Practice Guidelines and Clinical Consensus Statements and other Academy documents such as Clinical Indicators and Position Statements, providing members with descriptions of the documents and how to use them.

Clinical Practice Guidelines

These evidence-based clinical practice guidelines were developed with input from a wide array of medical specialties, nurses, and other allied health professionals where appropriate.

Position Statements (UPDATED)

Position statements are generated from within AAO-HNS/F committees.  Once approved by the Academy or Foundation Board of Directors, they become official and are added to the existing position statement library.

Clinical Indicators

Clinical Indicators for Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery are generated from within AAO-HNS/F committees. Clinical Indicators are not a substitute for the experience and judgment of a physician and are developed to enhance the physicians' ability to practice evidence-based medicine.
