Why is the AAO-HNS foundation donating 25 percent of Annual Fund donations to a disaster relief organization?
The AAO-HNS foundation would like to extend our philanthropic reach beyond the otolaryngology community and support the larger community of patients who have been impacted by recent disasters and need medical care.
How did the AAO-HNS foundation select Americares?
The AAO-HNS foundation’s goal was to identify a non-profit relief organization that met the following criteria: 1) the non-profit solely focused on medical relief, 2) the non-profit is accountable and transparent in its use of donations and is highly rated by Charity Navigator and 3) allowed the foundation to have complete control over where our donations were directed.
How long will the foundation be donating 25 percent of Annual Fund donations?
The 25 percent donation period will kick off on Giving Tuesday (November 28) and will end on December 31, 2017. All donations are 100 percent tax-deductible.
Can I donate to foundation’s Annual Fund and Opt-Out any of my donation going to Americares?
Yes, you will have an option to opt-out and only donate to the foundation’s Annual Fund.

How will Americares use AAO-HNS foundation’s Donations?
The Americares has four health support programs: Emergency Programs, Access to Medicine, Clinical Services, and Community Health. The AAO-HNS foundation’s donations will be directed only to the Emergency Programs humanitarian efforts and specifically to Hurricane Maria and Hurricane Harvey Disaster relief fund.
