WIO2.0 Initiatives Campaign

Your support of the WIO2.0 Initiatives Campaign helps celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the WIO Endowment Fund that was created in 2010 to provide a perpetual source of funding for projects that championed important issues for all women in otolaryngology.

Since 2010, the WIO Endowment Committee has received 22 WIO grant applications and has awarded 12 WIO grants, resulting in publications, actional research studies, a self-coaching techniques podcast series, a negotiation skills workshop, and more. Most importantly, women have achieved progress in our field.

But there is more to do. There are many more meritorious WIO projects and programs that could be funded with your donation. Help us raise $800,000 over the next 12 months by supporting the WIO2.0 Initiatives Campaign.

Title:
What is the WIO2.0 Campaign?
Body:

It is a yearlong celebration of the 10th anniversary of the WIO Endowment that was established at the Boston AAO-HNSF Annual Meeting in 2010. Four women in otolaryngology championed the idea of establishing a women's endowment. Four days later over $400,00 were pledged in support of the WIO Endowment.

It is a yearlong fundraising campaign to raise $800,000, to double what was raised in four days in 2010.
Progress has been made over the past decade however, there is still so much more to accomplish in areas such as:

  • Reducing pay inequity
  • Improving leadership opportunities
  • Funding research that is impactful in highlighting and combatting conscious and unconscious biases
  • Funding for programs that provide women in otolaryngology with the professional skills and tools needed to advance in their careers

It is a celebratory event, taking place at the AAO-HNSF's 2020 Annual Meeting & OTO Experience in Boston, celebrating all that women in otolaryngology have achieved in past decade, back where it all began in 2010.
