OTO Journal

Every month, Academy members receive access to the peer-reviewed journal, Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery. Each issue features specialty specific articles, including original research and systematic reviews that help you stay abreast of the latest developments. The journal also produces a monthly podcast.

International Newsletter

The International Newsletter features relevant news and updates curated specifically for our members around the globe. Each issue showcases a featured surgical video, peer-reviewed journal articles, Academy updates, opportunities to get involved, and upcoming events.

Bulletin

The Bulletin is the Academy’s official member-magazine and is published 11 times each year. Members receive the digital Bulletin with some expanded and online-exclusive articles. Grants and Scholarships

The AAO-HNSF offers a variety of grants and scholarships to aid and encourage those who further the mission of otolaryngology. Every year, the AAO-HNSF offers a limited number of International Visiting Scholarships (IVS) to junior academics from developing countries in order to attend the AAO-HNSF Annual Meeting & OTO Experience and participate in an academic observership at a U.S. otolaryngology department or institution. The AAO-HNSF also offers Humanitarian Travel Grants, Diversity Grants, Women in Otolaryngology (WIO) Endowment Grants, CORE research grants, and more.

• International Travel Grants: Available to non-U.S. junior faculty member now studying in the U.S. or Canada to receive up to $1,000 to attend the AAO-HNSF Annual Meeting & OTO Experience
• International Visiting Scholarship: Available to junior academics from developing countries in order to attend the AAO-HNSF Annual Meeting & OTO Experience and participate in an academic observership at a U.S. otolaryngology department or institution
• Humanitarian Travel Grants: Available to residents in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery to give a period of professional service to the people of a developing country
• CORE Research Grants: The Centralized Otolaryngology Research Efforts (CORE) grants program is a collaboration of several societies, foundations, and industry supporters focused on providing support for research in the field of otolaryngology-head and neck surgery
• Women in Otolaryngology (WIO) Endowment Grants: Provided for projects that support actionable research and/or projects that are designed to benefit the professional development of women in otolaryngology
• Diversity Grants: Each year, the AAO-HNS offers the Harry Barnes Endowment Travel Grant and the Diversity Endowment URM Away Rotation Grant as part of its commitment to advancing diversity in the specialty
• Resident Leadership Grants: Available to otolaryngology-head and neck surgery residents to help subsidize the costs of attending the AAO-HNSF Annual Meeting & OTO Experience
• Young Physician Section Travel Grants: Available to young physicians to help subsidize the costs of attending the AAO-HNSF Annual Meeting & OTO Experience
• Medical Student Travel Grants: Available to medical students to help subsidize the costs of attending the AAO-HNSF Annual Meeting & OTO Experience

Resources

The AAO-HNS offers a library of helpful resources to help you maintain an effective and efficient practice even while healthcare management continues to evolve. Our practical tools will help you provide the highest standard of care.

• Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs): As defined by the Institute of Medicine, Clinical Practice Guidelines are “statements that include recommendations intended to optimize patient care that are informed by a systematic review of evidence and an assessment of the benefits and harms of alternative care options.” Guidelines are one way of increasing implementation of evidence into practice. They can serve as a guide to best practices, a framework for clinical decision making, and a benchmark for evaluating performance. CPG patient handouts are also translated into Spanish.
