Charles A. Riley, MD

Walter Reed National Military Medical Center

Why are you interested in the YPS position? What do you hope to accomplish in this role?

I am interested in the nominating committee for YPS because I have been involved in the Academy since I was a junior resident and have really enjoyed being involved. I was engaged with the SRF as the ABOto resident representative for two years. I was a member of the Epistaxis: clinical practice guideline team which I found to be very rewarding. When I think about my career, I envision myself being involved with the AAO-HNS and this is an excellent way to maintain that commitment, build relationships, explore opportunities, and network with the best and brightest in ENT. If selected, I hope to identify and encourage potential candidates to serve on the YPS governing council.

What in your background suggests you will be successful in this position?

I have served and volunteered in a number of different capacities within ENT. Through the Academy, I have been on numerous committees, including the rhinology education committees, paranasal sinus committee, skull base committee, trauma committee, and BOG: SEGR committee, among others. I was the SRF resident representative to the ABOto. I participated in the Epistaxis CPG through the AAOHNS. That is just through the Academy. I enjoy being at meetings, learning for the world experts, and engaging with the smartest people in ENT.

What do you think this position can do to improve mentorship of Young Physicians in the AAO-HNS?

I think the key component of the YPS is engaging with newly graduated residents and ensuring that these individuals maintain an active membership within the Academy.
