What makes me different as a prospective candidate of Chair Elect of the Women in Otolaryngology Section is how many viewpoints I have encountered in my life. As a medical student in my hometown of Montreal, Canada that transitioned to a resident in the US, I came to understand how our differences can be our strengths. I realized in my residency and pediatric otolaryngology fellowship and Master of Public Health degree that I would best be able to influence the future of our specialty by having a seat at the table for policy making, and influence with Public Relations outreach. I was a member for many years on the Media and Public Relations Committee, and ultimately became chair of this committee. I have also served as vice chair of the Board of Governor’s Socioeconomic and Grassroots committee and am currently chair of the Board of Governor’s Governance and Society Engagement committee. I helped to plan much of this year’s Board of Governor’s spring meeting, one of the best attended in the history of our specialty. I have been a prior Member-at-Large of the Women in Otolaryngology Section. In addition, I am currently a voting member of the Complementary/Integrative Medicine Committee and of the Practice Management Education Committee. I have been an academician, an employed private practitioner, and have recently started my own practice during a pandemic. I have young children and understand the plight of women in our field.
