Academy Members Advocate for Patients and Physicians on Capitol Hill
For the first time since the pandemic, the Academy brought physician members from around the country to Washington, DC, March 10-11, 2026, to meet with their lawmakers and congressional staff, advocating for policies that support both patient
care and physician practices. 40 attendees participated in over 70 meetings, marking a powerful return for physician-led advocacy on Capitol Hill.
Academy members discussed key priorities, including federal legislation aimed at protecting Medicare patient access to care, expanding coverage for medically necessary hearing devices, and improving early detection of congenital CMV. Participants were also joined by AAO-HNS President, Gene Brown, MD, RPh, and American Medical Association President and fellow otolaryngologist, Bobby Mukkamala, MD, highlighting the specialty’s strong voice in national health policy.
Join the Academy for AAO-HNS 2027 Congressional Advocacy Day in May 2027. Stay tuned for more information!
