Socioeconomic Data

Since 1997, the Health Policy department has facilitated the socioeconomic survey, which is disseminated to all members (excluding military, retirees, and those in training). A great tool that provides the Academy and its membership with important information about their practices, the healthcare environment, and future trends in otolaryngology–head and neck surgery, the AAO-HNS Socioeconomic Survey is the most recognized otolaryngology specific member survey available. It is an asset for otolaryngologist–head and neck surgeons to measure themselves against their peers.

2023 Otolaryngology Workforce Report

The 2023 Otolaryngology Workforce Report, developed by the hard work and dedication of the AAO-HNS Workforce and Socioeconomic Task Force chaired by Andrew J. Tompkins, MD, MBA, is now available. The results of the survey should be valuable for all otolaryngologists, providing guidance for future planning needs for your practice. Information provided in this study will be critical as Congress decides funding of graduate medical education and when private payer networks are formed, alternative practice strategies are debated, and payment models determined. A special thank you to the Task Force and to those members who took the time to complete the survey.
