The Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS) Foundation is a global medical relief organization that is working on the front lines of crisis relief in Syria, in neighboring countries, and beyond to save lives and alleviate suffering. SAMS is essential to providing health care support via developing infrastructure, providing education, and for neighboring countries to facilitate care of displaced refugees and vulnerable populations especially since the Syrian crisis starting 2011.

Purpose of Initiative
SAMS provides health care relief in all major surgical and medical specialties to the region. Specifically to help refugee populations SAMS has developed a model of multi subspecialty mission trips that occur regularly and coordinate with local teams and social support services to facilitate educational support and develop sustainable programs. Several missions a year are with a focused on otolaryngology medical and surgical care in addition to oral maxillofacial and dental missions which occur regularly. Otolaryngology and facial plastic missions have been organized to Lebanon, Jordan, Turkey and Syria.
