AAO-HNS Responds to House Budget Committee Request for Information on Lowering Health Care Costs

In September, Republican members of the House Budget Committee established a Health Care Task Force and issued a request for information (RFI) to solicit feedback on solutions to improve outcomes and reduce federal health care spending in the budget. On October 13, the AAO-HNS responded to this request with a letter outlining several proposals that would lower health care costs and improve patient care.

The letter highlighted several Academy priorities, including boosting Medicare physician payment to ensure physicians do not leave the Medicare program, reforming burdensome prior authorization processes, reducing administrative and financial burden from the Medicare Merit Based Incentive Payment System and Alternative Payment Models, transitioning care to lower cost settings, and putting more resources into preventive care.
