On December 27, 2020 the “No Surprises Act” was signed into law. This legislation, which enacts changes to federal law to protect patients from the financial impact of unanticipated medical bills, was included in the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021. The new law takes effect on January 1, 2022 and includes provisions on price transparency, provider directories, and patient financial protections that will impact AAO-HNS members and their patients.
