Otolaryngology Call Compensation: What is Fair?

Join the Board of Governor's for a panel focusing on the different models of hospital call compensation.

Otolaryngology Call Compensation: What is Fair?

This session qualifies for 1.0 CME/MOC credits.

Over the next several years, the BOG will be focusing on advocacy initiatives. Hospital call compensation is a controversial topic among otolaryngologists of all practice types. In recent decades there has been a shift away from formal affiliations between otolaryngologists and hospitals. This has resulted in a significant burden of on-call responsibility for a diminishing number of otolaryngologists in the workforce. Otolaryngologists are increasingly requesting payment for hospital call coverage.

Join the Board of Governor’s for a panel focusing on the different models of hospital call compensation.

Topics include:

  • Practical tips for negotiation of call coverage compensation including documentation of factors supporting the burden of coverage.
  • Additional elements that can impact compensation structure such as compliance considerations, trauma level designation, and market dynamics will also be discussed during this interactive panel.
  • Tips from experts on how to attain “fair” compensation for hospital call coverage

Moderator:

Paul Imber, DO ENT & Allergy of Delaware Wilmington, DE

Speakers:

Nancy Jiang, MD Kaiser Permanente, Oakland Medical Center Oakland, CA

Joseph Sniezek, MD, FACS Swedish Health Services Seattle, WA

Barry Strasnick, MD Eastern Virginia Medical School Norfolk, VA

*After the program, the BOG will host a 20-minute AAO-HNSF President’s Forum.
