There are many ways to support global access to otolaryngology care without traveling. You can support this work financially by donating to AAO-HNSF grant programs, or you can donate in-kind if you have access to medical equipment, instruments, supplies, medication, or textbooks and journals.
Financial Donations
Eugene N. Myers, MD Global Education Fund
To honor Eugene N. Myers, MD, FRCS Edin (Hon), and his dedication to advancing otolaryngology and patient care worldwide, the AAO-HNSF is pleased to announce the Eugene N. Myers, MD Global Education Fund to benefit the continuing education needs of otolaryngologists practicing in low-income, low-resource countries.
Purpose: To provide grant funds to access or offset costs associated with AAO-HNSF education resources and opportunities to physicians practicing in low-income countries, who have limited or no access to otolaryngology professional development.

Criteria and Award Requirements: Grants will be available to physicians who are employed full-time in otolaryngology, have citizenship, and practice in a low-income country. Awardees will be required to utilize and share the knowledge obtained from the Eugene N. Myers, MD, Global Education Fund to improve patient care in their home country.

Humanitarian Efforts Travel Grant Program
The Humanitarian Efforts Travel Grant Program supports Academy member residents and fellows who participate in an outreach trip for at least one week. Your donation to this fund will help provide communities in developing areas with medical assistance in otolaryngology, as well as a fantastic service-learning opportunity for the grant recipients.

In-Kind Donations
While the Academy does not collect or distribute donations of medicine, textbooks and journals, or medical instruments, below is a list of organizations that accept such donations or that use financial contributions to acquire and distribute supplies.
AmeriCares supports U.S. medical teams for international humanitarian work with free medications and medical supplies in addition to educational and training resources. They also have company partners from which they can request products that may not be in their inventory.
Brother’s Brother Foundation is a gift-in-kind charity which accomplishes its mission by accepting and then redirecting donations of goods and services to areas in need.
Among many of Heart to Heart International’s initiatives, the group provides medicine and equipment to clinics in the US and to teams providing international medical assistance.
MedShare collects surplus medical supplies and used equipment from U. S. hospitals and manufacturers. These supplies are then made available to medical volunteer teams overseas or are shipped to hospitals in developing nations.
Project C.U.R.E. delivers ocean cargo containers full of medical equipment and supplies to hospitals and clinics in resource-limited countries and also organizes trips to support medical treatment and training for communities in need.
Through Scanlan Life Programs, Scanlan International, a medical instrument manufacturer, donates supplies to support surgical teams undertaking humanitarian outreach around the world.
World Medical Relief collects and distributes recycled medical and dental equipment, supplies, and medicines to groups conducting medical outreach trips.
