Humanitarian and International Grants and Awards

Recognizing Service. Supporting Education. Advancing Care.

The American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery Foundation has a long history of honoring those who go above and beyond — physicians who extend their expertise beyond the clinic to serve underserved communities, lead humanitarian missions, and champion access to quality ENT care for those who need it most.

Through our awards programs, we recognize the outstanding contributions of otolaryngologists whose public service and humanitarian work reflect the very best of our specialty. And through our grants and scholarship opportunities, we invest in the next generation of leaders — supporting the ongoing education and professional development of those committed to advancing the field.

The AAO-HNSF Humanitarian Travel Grant program, facilitated by the Humanitarian Efforts Committee, provides residents and fellows-in-training who are Academy members an opportunity to contribute professional service to people in areas with limited resources.

International Grants and Scholarships

Every year, the AAO-HNSF offers a limited number of scholarships to junior academics from outside the United States in order to attend the AAO-HNSF Annual Meeting & OTO EXPOSM and participate in an academic observership at a U.S. otolaryngology department or institution (arranged independently by the candidate). The IVS is open to all candidates who meet the eligibility requirements.

To honor Eugene N. Myers, MD, FRCS Edin (Hon), and his dedication to advancing otolaryngology and patient care worldwide, the AAO-HNSF is pleased to announce the Eugene N. Myers, MD Global Education Fund to benefit the continuing education needs of otolaryngologists practicing in low-income/low-resource countries.

The AAO-HNSF recognizes members who exemplify the spirit of humanitarian service through three distinguished awards.
