Clinical Practice Guideline: Sudden Hearing Loss (Update)

This clinical practice guideline (CPG), intended for all clinicians who diagnose or manage adult patients (aged 18 years or older) who present with sudden hearing loss (SHL) and primarily those with idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss, is an update of and replacement for the prior CPG published in 2012. The purpose of this multidisciplinary CPG is to identify quality improvement opportunities in managing patients with sudden hearing loss and to create explicit and actionable recommendations to implement these opportunities in clinical practice. Specifically, the goals are to promote prompt recognition and management of sudden sensorineural hearing loss, which may improve hearing recovery and quality of life.
