Reviewer Application: 2025 CORE Study Section

ATTENTION REVIEWERS: The opportunity to participate in the 2025 CORE Study Section as a reviewer is now open!

The AAO-HNSF and the Centralized Otolaryngology Research Efforts (CORE) Study Section would like you to serve on the 2025 CORE Study Section and participate in the review of CORE grant applications as a reviewer. This opportunity presents an invaluable chance to learn how to review grants and become better grant writers.

What is a Study Section? The Center for Scientific Review has produced a video of a mock study section meeting to provide an inside look at how NIH grant applications are reviewed for scientific and technical merit. The video demonstrates how experts assess applications and how review meetings are conducted to ensure fairness while also including information on how to improve one’s chance of receiving a positive review for their application.

The CORE review process closely emulates the NIH’s evaluation of grant applications making it a valuable learning experience for researchers. Engaging in this opportunity will enable reviewers to enhance their grant-writing abilities, better preparing them for future review endeavors.

Selected reviewers are required to attend the March 15, 2025, CORE Study Section to review grant applications (VIRTUAL)
