Why do you want to be involved in the leadership of the OPPS?

Leadership in the Otolaryngology Private Practice Section provides a valuable opportunity to protect and strengthen the future of independent medicine.  With increasing regulatory complexity, rising payer interference, and growing administrative overhead, private physicians need focused, effective representation.  As 1st Vice Chair, my goal is to unify members around practical solutions—reducing red tape, supporting fair reimbursement, and preserving the autonomy that defines private practice.  This role offers a platform to streamline our priorities, drive national conversations, and ensure private practice remains viable for future generations.  As a section, we must connect physicians across practice sizes and models to strengthen collaboration and our collective impact. Strategic leadership is key to long-term sustainability, and the OPPS must stay ahead of industry changes while advocating for what matters most to physicians and patients alike.

As the OPPS matures, what is your vision of its future?

As the OPPS matures, it should serve as a national leader in innovation, advocacy, and physician-driven strategy. The strength of private practice lies in its members’ operational agility, entrepreneurial spirit, and innovative creativity. To protect that, we must work collectively to address insurance denials, reduce administrative burdens, and champion fair payment structures. We can leverage future-thinking tools like AI to streamline clinical encounters and improve the patient journey. But long-term growth also depends on mentorship; we must engage students and residents early to demonstrate the viability and value of private practice. A strong, connected network of private physicians will be essential in shaping policy, sharing strategies, and protecting the profession’s integrity in an increasingly burdensome, insurance-driven healthcare landscape. Private practitioners don’t wait for systems to change; we build systems that work better for their patients, staff, businesses and communities.
