University of Illinois at Chicago, Department of Otolaryngology
I have practiced otolaryngology, for over 25 years with a focus on rhinology for 22 years. At this stage in my career, I have begun to dedicate my time and experience in supporting women in the development of their careers. My academic career has been dedicated to education. To this end, I am currently using the education I gained in my certification as an executive coach as a supplemental way to teach residents and to discuss ways to improve communication and feedback. I look forward continued to participation in the WIO to further these pursuits on a larger scale. My coaching practice is dedicated to supporting physicians and in particular, women, in the success of their careers. I hope to use this role in the WIO to work with strong women and leaders to collaborate in these efforts and come together to learn from each other.
Previous/Relevant Experience: I am currently working the WIO as a peer coaching group leader. I submitted a WIO sponsored panel for the AAO annual meeting and it was accepted, “Recognizing the Role of Advocates in Career Advancement”. I am also part of the WIO Endowment grant award submitted by Stacey Ishman. I am a guest on the committee, but as you can see, I am involved and enthusiastically will continue to do so in the future. I have been a faculty member at the University of Illinois at Chicago for over 20 years and my focus has been supporting the educational environment. I have been involved with the AAOHNS as an active member for many years. participated on many committees over the years. Currently, I am on the Annual Program Committee and the Rhinology and Allergy Education Committee. I have been a part of the annual program, presenting on many panels over the years. I have also been very involved with the ABOHNS for many years. I have formally and informally represented the ARS in its relationship with the AAO. Recently, I became certified as an executive coach and am obtaining a Masters of Science in Leadership and Organizational Development.
