Welcome to Miami and get ready to “Experience the Extraordinary.”  The global otolaryngology community has traveled from all over the world to come together September 28 –  October 1 in Miami Beach, Florida, for the AAO-HNSF 2024 Annual Meeting & OTO EXPO.

“As we gather over these next few days, I look forward to meeting new friends and connecting with long-time colleagues. Whether you are here to share groundbreaking research, engage in dynamic discussions, or network with peers, your participation enriches this event and strengthens our specialty. The coming together for our annual reunion is inspiring and is a reminder of how unique and vibrant our global otolaryngology community is,” shared Douglas D. Backous, MD, AAO-HNS/F President.

Attendees can jump start their Annual Meeting extraordinary experience Saturday morning at 8:00 am for the Opening Ceremony in Grand Ballroom A/B at the Miami Beach Convention Center (MBCC), which will feature Professor Kelvin M. Kong, AM, MBBS BSc, MD, presenting the . Australia’s first Aboriginal surgeon, Dr. Kong will examine the issues of ear disease among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

From there, let the education and networking opportunities begin.

“This is the finale of the 10 meetings I have overseen in my role as the Executive Vice President and CEO that began in Dallas, Texas, in 2015, and in total this meeting is the 42nd that I have attended and enjoyed over the span of my career,” shared James C. Denneny III, MD, AAO-HNS/F EVP/CEO, who will be retiring at the end of November. “For the past 10 years, it has been my honor and pleasure to play a small role in continuing the legacy of our organization’s fabulous Annual Meeting.”

“My advice and challenge to you is to interact with our guests from around the world, get to know someone you haven’t known before, and begin a meaningful collaboration and relationship that can last throughout your career.”

There is plenty of opportunity to do so thanks to the program, which was specially curated by the Annual Meeting Program Committee under the direction of Daniel C. Chelius, Jr., MD, Annual Meeting Program Coordinator.

“I am so excited to welcome our attendees to the 2024 Annual Meeting. This gathering represents the work of such a huge swath of our global otolaryngology community over the past year. Whether in the halls of Expert Lectures and Panel Presentations, at the Scientific Oral podiums and Posters, within the assemblies of committees and sections, or most importantly in the reunions of old friends, the innovative spirit and passion of our specialty will be on clear display over the next four days. The conversations in Miami Beach will embody the heartbeat of our Academy,” said Dr. Chelius.

The first full day of education and events will be capped off in style by the Presidents’ Reception at 7:00 pm (ET). Attendees will have plenty of time to network and connect with colleagues new and old with the picturesque view of Miami Beach and the Atlantic Ocean as a backdrop.

Notable Scientific Oral and Poster Presentations will also fill the schedule.  From among the hundreds of research presentations submitted for the 2024 Annual Meeting, the Annual Meeting Program Committee selected 16 Scientific Oral Presentations as the “Best of Orals.”

Featuring the most comprehensive display of the latest products and services available for advancing the specialty, the OTO EXPO will be home to hundreds of exhibitors during the Annual Meeting. Attendees can participate in hands-on demonstrations and Q&A about innovative, new products and technology that can help improve their practice and enhance patient care.

Additionally, make sure you attend the AAO-HNS Sections’ General Assemblies. Open to all attendees, the General Assemblies held during the Annual Meeting are the perfect opportunity to learn about the work and initiatives of the Board of Governors, the Sections, and the International Advisory Board. And in planning ahead for your schedule, for the second year, Monday, September 30 will be, “International Day.” From the International Symposium to the Eugene N. Myers, MD International Lecture on Head and Neck Cancer, International Sessions, and Global Regional Round tables, there will be no shortage of content for our global community. All international attendees are also encouraged to attend the International Reception on Monday evening.
