Session description: This webinar discussed the mission, ethics, and standards of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, the official peer-reviewed journal of the AAO-HNSF. The session also explained the importance of understanding the current literature when crafting a study and manuscript. In addition, the criteria by which reviewers make recommendations were described, including a very specific framework designed for those with a primarily clinical background.

Key Concepts in Statistics: Data Analysis and Regression Models
Session description: Topics related to statistics, including common statistical errors and explanations, are reviewed, as well as avoiding fatal flaws from the outset and recognizing them during review. This session opens with a brief review of exploratory data analysis, association between the variables, and concept of regression models—linear, logistic, and categorical. Also discussed are goodness-of-fit assessment of the models and regression models on longitudinal data settings.

Session description: In this webinar, editors from JAMA and JAMA Network journals provide valuable guidance on reporting race and ethnicity in medical publications (as published in the AMA Manual of Style, available online). In addition, a member of the AAO-HNS Diversity and Inclusion Committee will discuss diversity initiatives at the Academy and across the specialty.
